They Said Education Was the Key—But Now I Feel Locked Out

Hey, I'm Kris and I need your help.
Growing up I was always told that education is key and it will get me far in life, open doors I would not have had access to otherwise, but now it feels like it's holding me back from doing anyhting. I have a BA in Global Studies with minors in Culture & Media as well as Chinese Studies. I am a woman of color so I knew a BA would not be enough for me to get in the door, so I also pursued my Masters in International Affairs with a concentration in Culture & Media.
Throughout my college, I was also working full time at a market research company. This helped me to pay my regular living expenses, food, rent, bills, etc. Upon the completion of my Masters, my then employer said that if I got my MBA I would be eligible for a promotion & a raise. 6 months in, I was riddled with addional debt - with Sallie Mae unfortunately - and would not be able to sustain paying my living expenses, SallieMae, and the tuition requirements, so I had to drop out.
I am now in ~$80k of educational debt and am in fear that I will not be able to do anyhting until my debt is paid off. It's almost impossible to save when every extra dollar earned I put back into my educational loans, but even afer 8 years, I've barely made a dent.
I would love help at least with the SallieMae of it all, $12k. Any amount you can give will be extrememly helpful. I look forward to being able to give back your generosity to someone else in the future (and hopefully tenfold!)
Thank you for your generosity. |
