Unable to get caught up...

It seems like I can never get caught up financially. I’m currently $65,000 in debt, as a result of school loans, credit card debt, and an equity line. Whenever I start to get ahead, something else seems to happen to push me back down.
Last October I was finally able to pay off a credit card that had grown to $18,700 due to home repairs, school fees, car repairs, and miscellaneous debt over the past several years.
Everything was going well until four weeks ago when I discovered my house had a major foundation issue, which cost $8,000 to have 7 piers installed and the sidewalk boarding the house replaced by CASE Systems.
Then a huge one-hundred-year-old pen oak tree in my side yard had to be removed because it was in a state of decline from a damaged root system caused by a fungus and limb damage from a bad ice storm last January 2009. Greenhaven Tree Care in Louisville, KY brought in a 60 foot cherry piker, two box trucks, and a flat bed truck to get the job done. They did an outstanding job over two days, however the tree removal added an additional $2,500 to my debt load.
Then last week, Feb. 23, I had to pay $500 to have my furnance repaired.
All-in-all I am very thankful that I am able to make my monthly payments and that I still have a job, which almost came to an end last October 2009; but by the grace of God I was extended a position two days before I was scheduled to receive my notice.
I know that things could be much worse, and I am thankful that I am able to at least make ends meet. I simply cannot seem to get ahead - let alone be on an even keel - and that is why I am asking for any donation you may be willing to provide; it would be greatly appreciated! |
