I am reaching out to potential supporters to help launch my startup. Swushi, co-owned by a Black and Asian team in Mesa, Arizona, aims to enrich the local entertainment scene. While Mesa boasts a variety of Asian dining options, it lacks family-oriented entertainment venues. Swushi will not only offer karaoke but also spaces for musicians to play instruments.
As a rideshare driver, I’ve observed the constant buzz of people looking for things to do, from tourists to locals celebrating special occasions. Swushi plans to operate 24/7, providing soundproof booths for karaoke or musical sessions, which can be reserved online, unlocking with a unique code.
Our vision includes solar energy to power the venue round-the-clock sustainably. The facility will feature digital booking, conference rooms, and vending machines offering a mix of Asian and American snacks and drinks. Security is a priority, with cameras throughout and emergency buttons to ensure guest safety. We also plan to introduce Japanese-style bathrooms with bidets and self-cleaning features.
For now, Swushi will be an alcohol-free space, with potential future areas designated for drinking. Our operations will be cashless, though we are considering cash-to-card machines.
We are exploring a digital portal to connect with musicians globally, particularly in Japan, allowing real-time collaboration.
The founders, Moses Otani and Natsumi Otani, bring diverse backgrounds and a shared passion for creating joyful experiences. Moses has lived across the U.S. and brings a wealth of interpersonal skills, while Natsumi, originally from Japan, brings expertise in culinary arts and a deep understanding of hospitality and privacy in entertainment spaces.
