My name is Daniel, I am 22 years old, I own a 2006 Suburban, it’s my only vehicle, I go to school, I have 2 jobs, and I drive my father to work everyday because it’s the only vehicle we have, as well he pays for the roof over my head so I can live there. And I’m about to lose it because I don’t make enough to get the repairs I need done, as I help my father with the bills we get, ya know electric, gas, water, the basics. I am just barely getting by, with what little life the truck has left in it, and am seriously nearing its end. What needs to be done is the brakes, some of the engine, tires. What needs to be done for the brakes, is the pads, rotors, calipers, and the rubber lines to the calipers, this is what I have seen, my rotors are SHOT, I really shouldn’t be driving on them but I don’t have a choice, but I had enough to at least replace the brake pads, so that it was somewhat safer because I scraping the rotors for a quite a while, but I’ll need to replace the pads again because of the rotors, they have already destroyed the new brake pads. The calipers, they need to be replaced because when I went to bleed the brakes, the bleeder bolt snapped right off, whole thing gone, and one single damn caliper is 70 dollars. And the rubber lines that go to the calipers, that’s just for safety, a precaution to make sure those don’t fail later down the line, and the last thing I need for the brakes is the master cylinder, it’s going bad and I know it, because I hear a louder whine when I press the pedal, plus that pedal didn’t feel too great even before replacing the pads, I will worry about the brake lines themselves later, I can still brake so I’m TOO worried just yet. Now the engine, I need to redo the gaskets on it from top to bottom, because I am burning oil and coolant, as well as catalytic converters, yes you can just burn through those $600-$1,200 parts, because of the oil burning, it’s getting the inside of them coated in that burnt oil causing the system to also fail emissions. Next thing I need is a new timing chain to save more on gas, because I am losing mileage, I used to get 18-20 MPG’s (Miles Per Gallon) now I’m getting straight up 12 MPG I may have a 33 Gallon tank, but you can only go so far if your getting 12 MPG and lower, and while I have the engine taken apart I wanna do the crank and camshaft, with new bearings, along with spark plugs and wires, not sure they were replaced at all really. Also would like to do the oil pump while it’s out, just in case really, a little paranoid about it failing. And the other thing with the engine is the power steering, I have to keep refilling the power steering fluid because there’s a leak somewhere, and because of the leak, it’s starting to fail, because I can’t keep up with filling it, it’s making a really loud humming noise even at speeds of 60MPH, and turning the wheel makes it louder, as well as it is getting harder and harder to turn the wheel, even when I do refill it, this includes everything about it, the pump, the hose, the pulley (Yes they don’t sell those damn pumps with a pulley, don’t ask me!), the sealing kit, and a cooler for some odd reason, don’t know why that’s needed, but it is. And lastly the tires, they need to be replaced soon, they fortunately still have some life left in them, definitely can push those an extra 3,000 miles, but should most certainly be replaced sooner rather than later. Everything here will cost about $5,000, and that's just the beginning, but it would be just enough to make it the four years I need it for, getting my father to work, for school and my work. I thank you for taking the time to read this, and hope for the best for you. Thank You.
