No good deed goes unpunished

My husband met a guy through a mutual friend and they started a music project together. He seemed like a really good person and after a few months he told my husband that he and his wife had no place to park the trailer they were living out of. She was waiting for her disability to be approved and he was currently unemployed. My husband said they could park in our carport until they got on their feet. He got him a job where we work but that lasted only a month. His wife left him a week later and things went downhill. He took over my husband's studio, his trailer was old and being plugged in it caused our utilities to quadruple. We live on a very tight budget and with the extra utility costs and him borrowing money for gas to get to appointments we ended up living off of credit cards. After a year of empty promises from this guy we told him to leave and he refused. We spoke to the police and attorneys and they all said that he had more rights to our property than us. The cost to get him out has devastated us. I have a desperately needed back surgery that I can't get due to being unable to pay the out of pocket and we are currently eating food that is four years old. Anything that can be donated will be appreciated beyond words. |
