My husband and I live in northern Maine with our autistic son. He is physically 26 years old. He has a special diet, positively reacts to specific lights and sound, enjoys music and has friends like him online. We are both disabled, both dealing with neck, hip and knee problems. My husband has had four back surgery's, one of them being a fusion at C4 and C5. My neck has a bulging disc at C4 that pinches nerves that cause pain down my shoulders and arms and spasms in my shoulder blades. They tell me they can do nothing but treat the symptoms till it herniates. My knee gives out regularly(an old injury) but according to the scans, there’s nothing wrong with it but arthritis, I beg to differ. Sounds like excuses and more physical therapy. I also suffer from ovarian cysts that don't like to close. One burst and didn't close up on its own on my birthday. I was rushed to the ER for emergency surgery and 2 blood transfusions. We have struggled and fought to keep our heads above water for as long as I can remember but living solely on our disability checks and an occasional odd job here or there for friends has left us depleted. We have had a standing payment plan with the electric company for a while now and have missed our payments a number of times due to unfortunate circumstances. Part of a huge tree fell on our fence and shed once in a storm and it was covered by our homeowners insurance but left the rest of this 70ft Pine tree unstable, between 2 power lines and over our house, we had no choice but to hire a professional to take it down($700). Another time my husband’s mother’s basement flooded, destroying her hot water heater, new washer and dryer and her furnace. She is 70 and in bad shape herself, she had no hot water, no heat in November, no way to wash cloths and a ton of black mold. She takes care of an elderly man with learning disabilities and we couldn't just leave her like that. She got a new furnace and hot water heater but couldn’t put it in. So we drove 4 hours and spent 4 days helping her out. It was an expensive trip. Another time our only car ended us needing $3,000 worth of work on the engine. We managed payments on it at the cost of our electric company payment plan. Now the electric company wants all we owe on the bill. They won’t let us make another payment plan and will shut us off by the end of the month(June 2024) if we don't come up with it. Please help, my boy can not be in the dark. Thank You for caring. We need ($3,200) to catch up.
