**A Heartfelt Plea for Help: Holding on to Hope in Darkness**
Friends and family, I come to you today with an open heart, reaching out for support as I navigate through one of the darkest phases of my life. Back in 2013, I was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a progressive illness that has tragically transformed the very essence of who I am. I was once a passionate graphic designer with big dreams, but as of this past January, my world turned upside down overnight.
Imagine feeling physically trapped in your own body – unable to walk, talk, or move your hands. It’s a terrifying experience, one that makes the simple act of scratching an itch feel like a distant luxury. In my new reality, it often feels as though I am living in a nightmare that only worsens with time.
Yet, amidst the chaos and fear, I found a glimmer of hope. I connected with a wonderful team at Tobii Dynavox, who provided me with an eye-tracking device that allows me to communicate again. With tireless effort, I learned to use this device and even adapted much of my graphic design work to continue expressing my creativity. It felt like a rebirth, a way to reconnect with the world around me.
But just when I began to feel a sense of empowerment, life threw another curveball my way. Living in a rehabilitation facility, I recently discovered that my funds from Social Security Disability were taken, leaving me with almost nothing to pay for my bills, subscriptions, and design projects. This news has left me utterly devastated, feeling helpless and deeply lost.
